Intellithings Introduces Event-Driven and On-Demand Room Level Occupancy Reporting in Form of RoomMe

Intellithings announced the introduction of If This Then That (IFTTT) support for its RoomMe occupancy management program, with an IFTTT intervention delivering trigger-driven occupancy notification to consumers.

This expanded capability, which is now accessible with an upgrade to the RoomMe software, makes RoomMe compliant with IFTTT-connected alarm and security systems, offering those systems new features.

RoomMe, rather than depending on basic motion events, uses the unique Bluetooth signature of a user’s smartphone or select smartwatch models. This helps identify who that user is and which room he is in so that automatic adjustments in the settings like entertainment, temperature, lighting, and more can be made according to the user’s needs.

Users can also use RoomMe to check the well-being of other users inside the home using this technology. According to the company, RoomMe can be leveraged as a home occupancy reporting system during an alarm event. For e.g., it can be used to inform the central station or the user who is at home to enable quick access to those users to check whether they are safe.

On the other side, during alarm and arming events, to determine whether the user is at home or where he is within the home, RoomMe is used, thus reducing the frequency of false alarms. RoomMe supports IFTTT-connected and Hubitat systems; thus, it can work with Wink, Logitech, Apple HomeKit, Harmony, Insteon, Ecobee, Sonos, Bose, Sensibo, Philips HUE, LIFX, and hub-connected Z-Wave and Zigbee devices. There are also drivers available for RoomMe compatibility with devices built-in Crestron, Control4, URC, ELAN, and RTI.

Users can quickly drive information such as who is at home with the help of features such as voice assistant support for Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Siri present in RoomMe.

Commands get a response by the connected voice assistant that gives information about which room is being occupied by a RoomMe user in the house and for how long he/she was there in the place. These feature of RoomMe makes it more suitable for overseeing children or aging-in-place parents.

“RoomMe augments many of the systems and devices security dealers and integrators are installing on a regular basis,” says Oren Kotlicki, Founder and CEO of Intellithings. “Dealers can easily add on the sensor to provide additional functionality, including the ability to query connected voice assistants for information on who is home or to quickly and easily check in on family members during an emergency situation. RoomMe adds an additional layer of intelligence to the alarm and smart home security systems being installed every day,” he added.
